On 20 October 1894 the first 60 students began their studies which consisted of a mixture of lectures and practical work. Over the next two years, the students' knowledge and skills base developed rapidly as did their notoriety for making appearances at bakery exhibitions across the country to receive accolades.

The name MIWE is inextricably linked to the technological development of baking and the bakery industry in the 20th and 21st centuries. The German plant manufacturer, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, has decisively shaped the industry and, thanks to its pioneering spirit, expertise and courage, has made business models possible that are today considered standard worldwide.

On 27 June 2019, the European bakery and pastry ingredients federation, FEDIMA, celebrated its 50th Anniversary. For the occasion, FEDIMA hosted a stakeholder event in Brussels with EU officials and representatives of Brussels-based trade associations.
